Flashback : Dallas 
My father was born in 1921 in Cedar Hill and talked about climbing a tree as a kid to see the flying red horse.

Funny you should say that about Fairy Tales. My dad hailed from El Paso, raised his family in California, but would drive by Dallas every summer on the family vacation. He was a story teller, he was. To entertain us, he would tell stories about the flying red horse. My little sister bought into those stories so much that she wanted to be that horse.

My mother came to Dallas from Missouri for her senior class trip in about 1945. The class was taken up to the roof to see the Pegasus sign up close. As she remembers it, the guide let her climb up the ladder to touch it. I can’t believe it but that’s her story. 😉 Several years ago it was a shock to see half of it just hanging in one of those sheds beside the Farmers Market.
