Fabulous site! Two initial thoughts. First, you mentioned a couple of times that you didn’t know there was a jail on the top floors of the old courthouse. If you stand in Dealey Plaza and look up at those floors, you can still see the bars over the windows. Also, if you can ever get tour of the “Old Jail” (which is how the Sheriff’s Dept refers to it) you must do it. When I was with the DA’s office, the chief in charge of the Dallas County Jails gave me a personal tour. You can see the cells used by Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald, Clyde Barrow, etc…, as well as the old death row (before the state executed people). Its a great tour.
Secondly, when you mentioned Red Bryan’s place in Oak Cliff, I was hoping you’d mention the Red Bryan’s in north Dallas on Lombardy and Webb Chapel. It was our go-to BBQ joint when I grew up, but closed down some time in the mid 70s.
Thanks, Grant! It would definitely be cool to see inside the old jail (there aren’t actually tours of it, are there?). As far as the Red Bryan’s on Lombardy, I’m afraid I’m not familiar with that one — I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for the nice comments!

Again, wonderful site!
