There was a lot going on around Dallas on Valentine’s Day in 1883. Here’s a round-up from The Dallas Herald, started off with the immortal pearl, “This is St. Valentine’s Day when people send tokens of love and sarcasm.”

How fun…the mentioned Judge McCormick was my maternal grandmother Jewel McCormick Freeman’s father. His name was Andrew Phelps McCormick, Sr.. I love getting to see his name pop up in his official capacity. He was father of 18 children by two wives. He was also a son or grandson of one of the first six families who came to this area with Stephen F. Austin to start forming colonies which became the Republic of Texas.
I always love your posts but this one is really special to me. Thanks.
