From the Vault: Our Lady of Good Counsel

My aunt Bettye Jo died last week of COVID-19. She was fun and funny, always generous, and always supportive. I loved her, and I’ll miss her.
She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel for a year or two and always spoke about that time with fondness. I wrote about the school in the 2017 post “Our Lady of Good Counsel, Oak Cliff — 1901-1961.”

I had a couple of friends that went to OLGC when I was in my teens and they loved it. I begged my mother to let me go there but she would always say you’re not catholic so you can’t go there.
My aunt wasn’t Catholic, so I guess that wasn’t a prerequisite.
I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve lived in Dallas since 1984 & have enjoyed this blog and all the history in this town. I look forward to your posts. They’re kind of like unexpected gifts.
Thank you so much, Jane.
My condolences for your loss Paula. Thanks so much for the work you do on this site.Your posts take me back to a time when things were good and I had all my people.Especially with my grand daddy. He’s the one who raised me and took me fishin at Lake Cliff about every week.God bless.
Thank you, Tim.
