Louis J. Witte evidently began his pyrotechnical work in New Orleans and perhaps his stay in the Dallas area was brief, for his son and namesake was born in Chicago in 1894. Perhaps the elder Witte thought Chicago with its world fair would be an even bigger market? The younger Witte followed in the footsteps of his father and became an important figure in special effects work in Hollywood movies from the 1920s to the 1960s.
