From the Vault: Garrett Park

Springtime! This postcard of Garrett Park screams springtime. The park is still there, between Lowest Greenville and Munger Place, it just doesn’t look anything like this anymore. I’ve updated the 2014 Flashback Dallas post “Garrett Park Aburst in Spring Flowers” with new text and a few new images, here.

Most unfortunately, the remaining oval walkway that was still there at the time of your aerial photo, now appears to have been removed (the last trace of the original layout).
The mania for sports fields appears to have converted all our city parks to vast featureless expanses of grass with no shade or anything. How about the rest of us?
