Mystery House

I’m doing some work on the G. William Jones Collection’s WFAA-Ch. 8 News archive at SMU. Yesterday this image of an old house popped up in a news story, and I had to look it up, because I thought I should know what it was — or at least where it was. Turns out I was pretty familiar with the building, but I would not have guessed it from this screenshot. Click to see a larger image.
I’ve never done a quiz before, but why not? Sadly there are no prizes, it’s just for fun.
Can anyone identify this building?
Clue #1: The image above shows it in 1960.
Clue #2: It is still standing.

NOT FOR PUBLICATION: About 20 years ago I discovered a book through the Weatherford public library that had been written about my great grandfather’s role in The Franco Texan Land Company (title). He was Samuel Hamilton Milliken, 1844-1933. I discovered that the book had been out of print for many years. First thing I did was pick up the phone and call Dick. He had a copy for me within a week. I shared it with many members of my family. Great experience. I’d never have been able to do this without your father’s help. I miss him, and wish he was here to talk about old Texas scandals, old guns, and so forth. I miss Sawnie Aldredge, Mimi, and all the other folks I met through the Aldridge Book Store. None of that can be brought back, but it has permanently impressed my life.

Fun story about the Murphy House.
I work with a home builder that was working on this house prior to it becoming the Hotel St Germain. He told me that one day a Cadillac Limo pulled up and on older lady got out and just stood looking at the house. He was intrigued so went to talk to her. She said she had worked at the house “back in the day” He asked what did she do there. She said that it was once one of the “Finest Cat Houses in Dallas”. He realized what she meant and before he could ask another question, she said she had made here way up from working girl to Madame!
