In 1966, the Neiman-Marcus Fortnight honored France and all-things-French. And that included constructing an Eiffel Tower to grace the building’s exterior and an Arc de Triomphe built inside to welcome shoppers and gawkers. Bonjour, y’all!

Yet another example of Mr. Stanley’s special touch. We used to find him tucked back behind stacks of “Minding the Store” signing books when I worked at Brentano’s Northpark store. He would just wander in on his break and signed copies would magically appear at the register. The joke was that the really rare copies of that book were the unsigned ones at the bottom of the stack.
